Almost
everybody who owns a smartphone running on Windows Phone 7.5 OS are
indeed counting days to when the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade that
Microsoft has promised will arrive on their older smartphones.
And
if the latest report flowing in Singapore is to be believed, then the
Windows Phone 7.8 OS has already been released to manufacturing (RTM)
earlier this week.
The news is coming in straight from a developer event held in Singapore which was focused on Windows Phone 8 development via WMPU and developers at the event were informed that the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade is expected to release in a matter of just days to week.
The
event was held by Microsoft and Nokia together but it is unclear if
this upgrade will roll out only to Nokia Lumia smartphone in the
mentioned time period or to smartphones of other OEMs too.
The
source has also allegedly confirmed that IE10 will not be making way to
the older devices with the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade as the browser is
said to be fully hardware accelerated.
The
Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade is said to bring the new start screen which
will arrive with three Live Tile sizes which users can customize. Just a
couple of days back, a leaked slide
mentioned that older devices will also get twenty themes which users
will be able to use to customize their Windows Phone smartphones.
We
also expect Microsoft to include feature to edit MP3 files and use it
as a ringtone, while the Internet Explorer could arrive with security
updates and fixes. Another leak earlier suggested that Rooms and Xbox
Music feature could arrive with the upgrade.
