Vodafone India today launched their own brand 3G mobile phone – “Vodafone Smart”. The Smart features 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touch screen display and runs Android 2.2.1 OS. The Vodafone Smart android phone is powered by 528 MHz ARM 11 CPU and sports 2 mega pixel camera, 3G (3.6 Mbps), A-GPS, WiFi, WiFi Tethering, 2GB microSD card (expandable upto 32GB) and many more common features. The phone is priced at Rs. 4995 with two years warranty. Vodafone subscribers choosing “Vodafone Smart” handset will get double data benefit as limited period offer running till 31st December 2011.
Last month, Idea Cellular also launched their branded android phones. The Idea 3G android Phones “Blade” & “Id 280″ are priced at Rs.5,850/- and Rs 7992. In Sep’11 Vodafone had introduced its Facebook Phone - Vodafone Blue 555 at affordable price tag of Rs.4,635/- with one year unlimited access to Facebook. In August’11, MTS (SSTL Brand) had launched two affordable Android phones - MTS MTAG 3.1 and MTS Livewire priced under Rs 5,000/-.
